Documenting the story of the building and architectural character of the Picket Post House, the "Castle on the Hill," and arboretum, built by the copper magnate Colonel William Boyce Thompson (1859-1930). It also describes what life was like in the house for the author, Ida Franklin, who with her husband Walter were its second owners (having purchased it in 1946).
