Description: Mounted photograph taken December 14, 1904 showing a group of 13 students and three (presumed) teachers who are standing in the snow in front of what looks like a one-room school house. A couple of the girls are holding a small chalkboard with "Hopewell, / Dec 14 / 1904" written on it.

Very likely Hopewell, Oregon, a small town located in the Willamette Valley in Yamhill County, about halfway between McMinnville and Salem.

The photographs shows some scuffing and a little soiling. No notation on the backside. The photograph is 8 x 10.25 inches (mounting board is 9 x 11.25 inches).

There are not many places named Hopewell in the western United States. Besides Oregon, the only other one found in the West is in northern New Mexico; the rest are in Kansas, Texas, and further east).
