Many persons and families are written about, including the families of Metzger, Hall, (Clinton) Kelly, Stanley, Linnemann, Johnson, Shattuck, Brugger, Sherwood, Kane, and many others.
Mary Powell Mallett (1888-1974) was born in Dufur, moved to Portland as a girl, and then in 1932 relocated to Gresham. She taught for many years in the Gresham school system. Her book includes the recollections of her father Herman Ledyard Powell, who grew up in Powell Valley in the 1860's, and of her grandfather Dr. John Parker Powell.
