Biographies of the 52 men who voted at Champoeg in 1843 to form a Provincial Government of Oregon. The biographies are in eight categories: The Earliest Settlers; Nathaniel Wyeth's Parties; The Methodist Ministers; Other Missionaries; The Peoria Party; The Mountain Men; The Immigration of 1842 (Elijah White Party); and Freelance Settlers.

Appendices include the list of subscribers to the Oregon American and Evangelical Unionist (approximately the fourth publication in Oregon history). Many of the names on this list are categorized by the name of the local mail-service or designated pickup location (e.g. at W. J. Martin's Office, Yam Hill County).

The author, Caroline Conselyea Dobbs (1873-1945), was the historian for the Multnomah Branch of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was the wife of John F. Dobbs, President of Pacific University, Forest Grove.
