A survey and guide to stereographs which were popular from 1851 to 1935. This study, which includes many supporting illustrations on the majority of pages, is undertaken from four points of view: historical, geographical, topical, and by the photographers that produced them. Includes a check list of 3500 North American sterographers arranged by state and noting their location and an alphabetic check list of stereographers.
The geographical section is divided into chapters for the Eastern U.S., Western U.S. and Canada, Great Britain, Continental Europe, and then the rest of the globe. There is also a review of eighty topics, ranging from advertising to zoology.
