A pseudo-account of California, being the exploration and adventures of a certain Manuelo and his life amongst the indigenous tribes around the year 1600. The unidentified editor claims that the account is based on a lost manuscript which had been found in Portugal in the 1840s. The authorship of this unusual narrative is attributed to the California pioneer, lawyer, and politician Cornelius Cole (1822-1924).
