Morley's private time capsule, reflecting on his days between July and October 1938. From his wry observations at home, to his regards for the social significance of radio, and to the world response to Hitler's annexation of Austria and October Sportpalast speech, broadcast internationally, regarding German intentions in Czechoslovakia; not Neville Chamberlain's ''Peace with honor,'' but rather ''Peace with Epitaph.'' Morley sardonically notes H.G. Wells's famous broadcast of October 30, 1938, a different kind of war.
