Cantata with music and lyrics and recitation sections, with characters roles for Santa Claus (baritone), Santa Claus's workmen, a family (father-bass, mother soprano, etc.) with several children (choruses), and a trio of angels (soprano, mezzo-soprano, contralto). The first scene opens with children outside, playing in the snow, sledding, throwing snowballs, etc.
Clarence A. Murch (1855-1910) was a professor and principal of the Platte Collegiate Institute of Kearney, Nebraska (renamed the Kearney Military Academy in 1899), a poet, and the president of that state's society of Christian Endeavor.
Herman Mainard Draper (1857-1927) was a music teacher and in 1890 the director of St Clare Hall Conservatory of Music in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1907, he moved to Seattle and established the Draper Home for Children in Des Moines, Washington.
