Some darkening to cloth along top edge of front cover. Handsome bookplate on flyleaf opposite half-title. Interior is clean and unmarked. Dust jacket has Newbery Medal on front cover; chipping and color-wear around the head of spine; some minor wear to corners; a couple small tears to top edge of front panel; not price clipped ($2.00); in a clear archival sleeve. 94, [1] pages. 9 x 7 inches.

Written and illustrated by the Hungarian-born Kate Seredy (1899-1975). It was awarded the Newbery Medal for excellence in American children's literature and received the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award. A mythical retelling of the migration of the Huns and Magyars from Asia to Europe.
