Benjamin Wisner Goodue (1832-1902) of Chicago served in Company D of the 124th Illinois Infantry 1862-1865. After the war, he took up an advocacy for the rights of labor, was affiliated with the Knights of Labor, and in 1887 ran for Illinois State Senate as an independent representing labor interests.
