The memoirs of Col. Edward Houlton Fletcher (1872-1955), San Diego pioneer, politician, and important San Diego County developer. Fletcher was instrumental in developing the area's water supply, highway and railway transportation, and was involved in many dimensions of the civic development which transformed the sleepy seaside town into a burgeoning metropolis.
In addition to recording his role in developing the San Diego area, he also provides accounts of his association with many famous persons (President Harding, Wendell Wilkie, General Perhshing, Herbert Hoover, R.G. Sproul, Henry Wallace, Alf Landon, Owen Wister, Earl Warren, and many others), and presents genealogical material for the Fletcher family, both ancestors and descendants.
