John L. Low (1869-1929), considered to be one of the grandfathers of the modern golf game, had been captain of the Oxford and Cambridge team for twenty years, was a captain of the Woking Golf Club, grew up playing Carnoustie and the Old Course at St. Andrews and was a member of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club at St. Andrews and several other British clubs.
The chapter on Driving is by the English amateur golfer, Harold H. Hilton (1869-1942), a two-time winner of The Open.
