The author, Dr. Jonas Kristjansson (1924-2014), was an internationally recognized scholar and author. After working as an archivist at the National Archives of Iceland, he served as the Director of the Arni Magnusson Institute in Reykjavik, responsible for the study and preservation of the Old Icelandic manuscripts, between 1972 and 1994.
