1961 catalog for the UCLA exhibit of the pulp magazine Black Mask, that included many issues and examples of correspondence, photographs and other materials related to the magazine and its staff and writers.
The first issue of Black Mask was published in 1920 under the editorship of H. L. Mencken. Over the next three decades the pulp would see many contributions from many notable writers, including Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler, Carroll John Daly, and Erle Stanley Gardner.
