Label on rear pastedown for ''G. Green. Bookbinder. Woodstock'' [Ontario]. Volume I of Novelist Publishing Company's War Series. Previous owner was James Pullin of Sweaburg (near London), Ontario.

The author, James Perkins Tracy (1853-1915), was the author of several dime-novels and sometimes went by the pseudonym ''A Self-Made Man.'' He was born in San Francisco, educated at Santa Clara College, and moved to New York state sometime around 1880.
