Ex-non circulating library with labels on the front endpapers; no pocket. Pinhole library stamp on the title page and one additional page of text. 21 illustrations (12 plates, including frontispiece, each with pinhole stamp, and nine large, in-text illustrations). 159 pages. 8.75 x 5.5 inches. Placed in removable, clear archival sleeve with a small, loose slip of acid-free, color-coordinated paper to mask the call number.

Travelogue of British explorer Isabella Bishop of the Tibetan region of Ladakh in Kashmir. Her travels here occurred during the years 1889-1890.

Isabella Lucy Bishop (1831-1904) was a British explorer, writer, photographer, and naturalist. She co-founded the John Bishop Memorial hospital in Srinagar and was the first woman to be elected Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.

This volume comes from the collection of John Wilson (c. 1826-1900), pioneer merchant and book collector of Portland, Oregon. His eight-thousand volume collection, considered one of the finest on the west coast, was bequeathed to the Portland public library in 1900.
