An amusing novel, being an account of a young officer's experiences in shooting and hunting during post-war convalescence in the countryside. From the front flap, ''With sparkle and satire he [the author] debunks the pompous and the pretentious, the post-war plutocrat and his mountebank minions, at the same time picturing with skill and sympathy the true sportsman, as well as the delights of shooting days and ways.'' First published in 1949, Guns Wanted is an earlier work by British author John Keith Stanford, OBE MC (1892-1971), who worked as a civil servant in Burma as part of the Indian Civil Service and wrote several books on sport, humor, and natural history.
