The solitary volume of poetry published by Oregon poet Ada Hastings Hedges (1883-1980), inspired by the high desert of southeast Oregon. Includes her thirteen sonatas entitled ''The Desert Wife,'' her response to C.E.S. Wood's The Poet in the Desert, in which she traces the days and impressions of a woman, a hard-scrabble farmer's wife, amidst the rocky and sagebrush strewn lands.
