A scarce copy of this children's biography of Saint Fiacre (c. 600-670), the Irish-born patron of gardeners. The story is told of his development as a boy, his love of growing things, his hatred of the local violent conflicts, his education by monks, how as a young man he established a hermitage in north-central France, and the adoration of the people around him.
The author, Catherine Beebe (1894-1992), was educated by Ursulines. Several of her books were illustrated by her husband, Robert Edwin ''Robb'' Beebe (1891-1966), who had worked as a freelance artist and illustrated for major periodicals.
