The collection includes work by, but not limited to, Jane Austen, Balzac, Dickens, Shakespeare, Marlowe, Lord Byron, Thackeray, Laurence Sterne, Oliver Goldsmith, Goethe, Sir Walter Scott, George Eliot, Rudyard Kipling, J. M. Barrie, and Lewis Carroll. The pieces are accompanied by b/w illustrations by Rossetti, Rubens, Burne-Jones, Rembrandt, Watteau, Jan Steen, and several others.
