A collection of writings by Benjamin Kirkman Gray (1862-1907), a historian of philanthropy in England, sociological writer, socialist, and member of the Independent Labour Party, whose writing often touched on the problems of poverty and social reform. Includes a 53-page biographical introduction by the English biographer Henry Bryan Binns and a ten-age essay ''Kirkman Gray as a Sociologist'' by Clementina Black, English feminist, novelist, and socialist activist.
