Recollections of homestead life, family, community, logging, and farming, mostly in Coos County during the 1930s and 1940s, much of it around Myrtle Point, Oregon, but also at logging camps in the area. The author, Glen E. Olson (1921-2016), was born on the Olson family homestead on Elk Creek, located about sixteen miles outside of Myrtle Point in Coos County. He graduated from Myrtle Point High School in 1939 and then joined his father, William Oscar ''Bill'' Olson, in the work of logging.
