Seventeen full-page color illustrations, each with a poem about the monkey circus with a few others describing scenarios played out by the monkeys. Rubber stamp of the ''Mayer & Miller Boot and Shoe Store, Springfield, Ills.'' stamped on rear cover and second-to-last page, presumed to be where it was originally purchased. A couple closed edge tears.  pages (including inside of covers). 10.6 x 8.3 inches. Rare.
The rare pirated edition issued by McLoughlin Bros of the even more rare ''What they did at the monkey's circus'' published by E. P. Dutton [ref: American Antiquarian Society].
