Spine darkened. First page of chapter one has a significant but mended closed tear; the preceding ''half-title'' page is missing its top part. Owner's name is rubber stamped in a few places. Soiling on a couple pages, else generally clean. Color frontispiece by N. C. Wyeth. pp. vi, 341, plus [10] ads.

Signature of the author's son, Philip Hammon Parrish (1896-1956), on ffep. Philip was also an author and published two books: Before the Covered Wagon (1931, Metropolitan Press) and Historic Oregon (1937, Macmillan).

The heroine of this western romance is Beth Norvell, an actress in a traveling company who enters a Colorado mining camp.
