Bookseller's rubber stamp to inner bottom corner of ffep, else internally clean and unmarked. Small toned spot on two pages where a newspaper clipping had been laid-in. Dust jacket shows light edgewear with a few small chips and some short closed tears; small spots of surface wear above ''Quiet'' on front panel; surface-wear at spine ends; not price clipped ($2.50); in an archival mylar sleeve. Laid-in is a small, classified-size newspaper clipping from the Oct. 28, 1929 Boston Herald stating that ''In Austria there has been a veto against the private purchase of ''All Quiet on the Western Front.'' It was removed from the shelves in soldiers' libraries some time ago by the ministry of defence, which contended that the book would impair the military qualities of their recruits...''. The clipping has been placed in a small mylar sleeve.
