Northern California memoirs of John Abraham Snider (1889-1979), teamster and road builder, primarily covering the years up through the early 1920s. Snider was born in Mendocino County, grew up in Laytonville, and had family scattered around the county. In 1909 he was living in Covelo. He describes many aspects and adventures in his career as a teamster, hauling supplies and goods in horse-drawn wagons around northern California, through Mendocino, Trinity, and Humboldt counties, doing work for ranches and mines, and assisting with road building. In 1917, he took up work in southern Idaho, in and around Hansen, Hazelton, and Gooding, before moving again to California (Manteca) in 1922.
