Previous owner's name at top of front pastedown, else interior is unmarked and generally clean. Illustrated throughout. At rear is a 20 x 36 inch fold-out map which shows the 230th's route of march through France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. 138 pages. 10 x 8 inches.

A descriptive account of the 230th Field Artillery Battalion's actions in the European Theater in World War II, which follows them from the period of training in England, through actions in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany, up until the end of the war. Illustrated throughout with b/w photographs. There are also drawings (color and b/w) which comically depict the soldiers' varied experiences. Includes: rosters of the 230th FA Battalion as well as of Cannon Company (120 Infantry Regiment), providing name, rank, and home address; battalion statistics; decorations awarded; and the text of several letters of commendation written by commanding generals. Previous owner (name on inside of front cover) was Byron Dolley Curtis (1915-2000) of Enfield, Maine. He served as a sergeant with the 30th Infantry Division, landed at Omaha Beach, and fought in five major battles before meeting the Russians at Magdeburg.
