Light brown rough buckram with burgundy, white-bordered lettering and the paws pictorial across spine and front cover. Cracked inner hinges, else an attractive copy with custom matching slipcase. Previous owner's name at head of ffep, else internally bright and clean. Eight color plates (including frontispiece) and numerous in-text illustrations by Charles Livingston Bull. Closed tear in top margin of frontispiece, not affecting the illustration. pp. vii, 242, plus [4] ads. [BAL 11903].
The slipcase is quarter leather with raised bands and gilt lettering on spine and includes a separate four-panel, wrap-around portfolio sleeve. Both the slipcase and the sleeve are in a matching light brown cloth. The leather has areas of scorching.
