Essentially a reprint of Sir Lascelles Wraxall's English translation, in three volumes, which had been made with the Victor Hugor's sanction and advice. Chapters and passages that had been omitted in that edition are here restored and specially translated for this edition. This edition also restores the author's own arrangement of the work in five parts along with his book and chapter subdivisions.

The Handy Library Editions were published by Little, Brown and Company between 1903 and 1922 and sold for $1.00 per volume.
