A collection of witty, comic, sometimes satirical tales featuring a variety of talking veld animals (and one talking sausage), including dassies, a meerkat, springbok, ant eater, elephant and others). A few feature the Picannin, who is very clever and attempts to teach the animals. The white adults who appear are found quite absurd.
