A biography and description of the career of Colorado lawman Markes Edmond ''Mark'' Fletcher (1876-1960), the Sheriff of Grand County from 1925 to 1944, a time which included the years of Prohibition. Describes specific criminal cases and the role and experiences of the sheriff during these years. In addition, the Fletcher family story is told, with their arrival in western Colorado in 1884 and their homesteading and ranching at Russell Gulch and elsewhere in the Fraser River Valley. Co-written by Fletcher's daughter Elsie.
