Introductory issue of the 1930s English-language tourist magazine, Mexican Art & Life. The magazine was beautifully designed and featured color covers and art by prominent artists, and was intended to promote travel to Mexico in the United States and to reverse negative publicity Mexico. It was published by the newly created Department of Press and Publicity (DAPP), and ran for seven issues 1938-1939, plus this pre-publication issue from 1937.

This issue includes the cover art by Carlos Merida, a full-page color illustration by Marie Alonso, and other color and b/w illustrations by Emilio Amero, Francisco Diaz de Leon, Chavez Morado, and Alfaro Siqueiros. Includes articles ''Whose Dollar in 'Red' Mexico?'' which debunks misrepresentations made by the muckraking journalist Owen P. White in a recent issue of Collier's (Feb 13, 1937), and ''Americans in Mexico'' by U.S. Ambassador Josephus Daniels.
