Divided up by continent, the physical geography, including natural resources, and history of each nation are described. In the United States section, it is divided up by region and each state or territory are given the same treatment.

Frederick Butler (1766-1843) was also the author of Sketches of Universal History (1818) and the three volume Complete History of the United States of America. He lived most of his life in Wethersfield, Connecticut.
