The autobiography of Robert ''Bob'' McDonald (1933-2020), Minnesota's all-time winningest basketball coach and a longtime teacher at Chisholm High School. He coached for 59 seasons, including 53 at Chisholm, amassed 1,012 career victories, and claimed three state Class 1A championships.
He begins with his early life in Chisholm, describing many interesting details regarding its culture in the 1930s and 1940s, and his family's background (the Perkovich family, from Croatia). This is followed by an account of his of his basketball career, as a player with Chisholm High School, Hibbing Junior College, and the University of Minnestota-Duluth, and then as coach at McGregor High School, Barnum High School, and his five decades at his alma mater, Chisholm High School. The final portion of the book describes his family life and travels, personal philosophy, and reflections on a life in Minnesota basketball.
