Title: The Daily Tech Pep [1941-1942 run of the Benson Polytechnic High School daily newspaper (Portland, Oregon)]
Description: A nearly complete archive of the Benson Polytechnic School (Portland, Oregon) daily newspaper for the school year 1941-1942. Bound in a vintage ledger binder (post binder). Each issue is four pages, total of about 600 pages.
The newspaper's banner states that The Daily Tech Pep is ''The Only Daily High School Paper in the Pacific Northwest".
This collection gives a unique, day-to-day look at an American high school on the eve of the United States' entry into the Second World War, up through the dramatic attack on Pearl Harbor and the declaration of war on the Axis powers, December 7 and 11, respectively, and into the closing days of the school year.
The run of 156 issues (Sep 8, 1941-May 22, 1942), lacks only five issues: 1, 8, 27, 51, and 69. The number 110 was not used (i.e. skips seamlessly from 109 to 111). The collation runs, more-or-less, from the most recent to the oldest, but with some irregularity. The top cover of the binder lifts off the posts; each issue is punched in top margins.
