Title: Victory: Waseca County Minnesota in the World War

Author: n/a

Description: Black cloth, decoratively stamped in gilt on front cover. Light soiling to front cover. Binding a bit shaken. Internally clean. Thoroughly illustrated. 224 pages. 10.5 x 8 inches.

Portraits accompanied by brief military details for 676 soldiers and seamen. The details provided often include the name of their father, hometown, date of entry into the service, identity of their company and/or regiment, and sometimes one or two other material facts. The 21 men who perished during the war are given more detailed obituaries. (About 100 others are only listed by name, as the original compilers were unable to acquire their portraits). In addition, there are also portraits for the county's six military nurses and some notes regarding where they were stationed.

The men and women serving on the home front are also included, showing the importance of Waseca's united war effort. There are more than 60 group photos, each with full name identification, showing each city or town's Liberty Bond solicitation committees; Red Cross officers, committee-women and solicitors; and solicitors for the United War Work campaign. There are also portraits of the three champion knitters, the Waseca County War Board, the county's Food and Fuel Administration members, and more. Also included are group photos (with name identifications) of the Waseca and Janesville Boy Scout troops, the Girls' Liberty League, and four musical bands.

In addition, the volume concludes with a roster of Waseca County's Civil War soldiers, 13 portraits, and group photos (identified) of the Waseca, Janesville, and New Richland G.A.R. veterans. Also provided is a roster of the county's Spanish War Veterans (Company K, 12th Minnesota Infantry).
