A true account of the Mulhall family and Lucille's adventures in her father's Wild West Show, as well as her performances on the vaudeville stage and in rodeos. From New York in 1905 to Texas in the early 1920's, she performed all over the United States and Canada. She was the first true cowgirl (and acknowledged as such by Will Rogers), and her skill and daring opened the way for women to compete in rodeos. This book recounts the joys and sorrows, the highlights and lowlights, the triumphs and failures of Lucille's life, as well as providing a slice of Oklahoma and early Wild West Show history.

In 1975 Lucille Mulhall (1885-1940) was inducted into the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum's Rodeo Hall of Fame; two years later she was inducted into the National Cowgirl Museum's Hall of Fame.
