A factual account of the British Loyalists who migrated from America to the Exuma islands in The Bahamas, following the War of Independence. Many of these Loyalists were from the southern colonies, particularly the Carolinas and Georgia, and initially sought refuge in East Florida. It fills a gap in Bahamian historiography by gathering together in one place much of the available information on the island of Exuma in the loyalist years, 1783-1834.
The author, Winfield Henry ''Tex'' James (1918-2015), was also the president and publisher of the New York Daily News throughout the 1970s.
