Biographies of British boxers with accounts of their boxing matches and a descriptive observations of boxing culture and fight promotion, comprising a detailed record of pugilism and prize fighting in England during the years 1821-1828.
The two New Series volumes of Boxiana, published by George Virtue in 1828 and 1829. Pierce Egan's popular Boxiana series had its beginnings in 1812 and saw the publication of the first volume in 1813, followed by additional volumes in 1818, 1821 and 1824 (the fourth having been written by another author due to a contractual dispute). Egan continued his work a few years later, issuing these two volumes of the New Series, the first of which includes an eight page explanation of the details of Egan's legal battle regarding Boxiana in the summer of 1823.
