Henry William Gibson (1867-1941) was a prominent figure in the YMCA in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. He entered the work in 1889, became the general secretary of the Chambersburg and Lancaster (Pa) YMCA, and then served as the boys' secretary for Massachusetts and Rhode Island from 1903 until his retirement in 1927. He was also the founder and builder of Camp Becket, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, which he also directed for 24 years. He was the author of several books on camping, was the editor of The Camping Magazine [Boston], and was president of the National Camp Directors association for three terms.
