Luang Por Baen (1928-2020) was a leading figure in the Thai Forest Tradition. He took his ordination as a bhikkhu in November 1948. He went to study and train with Luang Pu Gongmaa at Wat Doi Dhammachedi, at Sakhon Nakhon, Thailand, before his fifth vassa, and lived there until his death. He was a senior Dhammayut forest monk close to Luangta Maha Boowa and known for his strict adherence to the Vinaya and meditation practice. In 1991 the King of Thailand presented him with the Jao Khoon title of Dhavanavisuddhinana Thera, in recognition of his significant contributions to, and preserving of, the practice tradition of Thai Buddhism.
