"Silver, a precious possession, is show here in varied uses - some odd, some elegant... Each piece of silver chosen for exhibition was made to suit an individual taste and represents a special use. None was produced in quantity. Each was made by a fine craftsman of the era. Some go too far back in history to identify the craftsman. Others were made by the finest of early American silversmiths - by two members of the famous family of Moultons, Towle's direct predecessors in Newburyport, by Paul Revere, a contemporary of the Moultons, as well as other important smiths working in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
