A wide-ranging and sometimes lurid glimpse of "rooms mysterious" in pre-Second World War Britain. O'Donnell is an Irish author who became famous for his books on ghosts and the supernatural. Amongst the chapters are: "Inns of Ill Repute," "Torture Rooms and Rooms Containing Gruesome Casks and Tanks", "Rooms that Have Witnessed All Kinds of Magical and Queer Happenings" etc. there is one "The Room of the Crab and Other Mystery Chambers" that includes a four page description of a visit that O'Donnell made to Aleister Crowley's Chelsea studio.
