Staple binding is rusting and leaving stains. Association copy. Inscribed by author to the W. H. Lewis, the editor of the Manila Times. (Lewis, was a former correspondent for the New York Herald during the Russo-Japanese War, and was with the Times between 1911-1917.) A collection of "Kiplingesque" verse from the time of the American presence in the Philippines, written in 1914. Some of the pieces had previously appeared in the Manila Daily Bulletin, the Cablenews-American, and the Philippines Free Press.
