Self published autobiography. Includes 10 pages of b&w photos. Though born in Irving, Minnesota in 1892, Channing was raised and lived his life in Washington State. In 1905 his family moved from Olympia to Garrad Creek (near Oakville) in Grays Harbor County and attended school at Meadow Glade. His autobiography is rich in detail, full of names and places, providing a vivid picture of life in Washington state in the first half of the twentieth century. He was an educator and lived in many different places, including Yakima, Cle Elum, Gig Harbor, Spanaway, and Ocean Park; later became a farmer and logger on his farm back in Oakville, and retired on Marrowstone Island in the Puget Sound.
