Biography of the revivalist and evangelist Archie Word (1901-1988). Word was born in Glasgow, Kentucky. Prior to his conversion he had been a hard-fisted bootlegger in the San Joaquin Valley, California, in the 1920s. From 1930-1935 he evangelized up and down the West Coast and then settled down at the Montavilla Church in Portland, Oregon, where he served from 1935 to 1968. Associated with the Ottumwa Brethren.
