Robinson (1867-1936) was an American physician, sexologist and birth control advocate, and editor of the American Journal of Urology and Sexology. He also helped found the World League for Sex Reform and who aimed for the humanization of scientific sexology. The Oldest Profession is a modern, rational survey, plotting an ideal society wherein prostitution wouldn't exist, but also acknowledging the existing need to deal practically as well as compassionately with the problem.
