No. 24 in Lovell's Occult Series. Franz Hartmann (1838-1912) was a German occultist and theosophist, and an associate of H. P. Blavatsky and an officer in the Theosophical Society in Adyar. Hartmann, along with Theodor Reuss, Carl Kellner, and Henry Klein, founded the Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.). Name "Fred. L. H. Willis" inscribed at head of front cover. Dr. Frederick Llewellyn Hovey Willis (1830-1914) was an American spiritualist and physician. He was the cousin of Louisa May Alcott and grew up with her, in the same house, and is assumed to be the inspiration for the character of Laurie in Little Women.
