The history and heritage of the 1821 U.S. Navy schooner "Shark," which wrecked on the South Spit of the Columbia River on September 10, 1846. James L. "Jim" Dennon (1932-1992) was a long-time resident of the northern Oregon Coast. He published Cannon Beach's first newspaper, "The Cannon," in 1949 and 1950.
