Inscribed by Henri David to Maynard McFie (1896-1958), a businessman and prominent member of Los Angeles society. McFie served as president of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, was vice president of the Organizing Committee for the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, and authored a book on Los Angeles as it was in the 1890's.
